A rare English Regency period japanned tray table.
Early 19th century, circa 1810.
The dished top exquisitely decorated overall with complex floral designs in gilt, and unusually centred by an armorial. The raised borders have very finely executed reserves of Chinese landscapes and pavilions.
This George III tray is papier mâché and of the period, the ebonised wood stand is later.
This stylish antique low table is ideal for use as an occasional table, lamp table, or drinks table.
A chic collector’s piece.
Interestingly some of the roofs in the landscapes have Christian crosses which would possibly tie in with the European escutcheon, as such warranting further research.
