Description

An English mid 18th century mahogany fret-carved wall or pier mirror.
Late George II period, circa 1760.

The unusual undulating serpentine inner border is gesso-carved and parcel-gilt.
The moulded frame is flanked with well carved oak leaves, acorns and trailing foliage, all in giltwood.

This larger than usual antique (Georgian) fret-carved pier/ wall mirror is well patinated. The broad outer mahogany frame is carved with boldly defined scrolls, all retaining old surfaces of very good colour.

Mirror plate is an old replacement. Backboards are all original.
