Nb. The Régence in France occurred between 1715 and 1723, when King Louis XV was a minor, and France was governed by Philippe d’Orléans (1674-1723) a nephew of King Louis XIV (1638-1715).
During the Régence in France we see a transition away from the rich heavy ornate styles of the Louis XlV period into the first quarter of the eighteenth century when the Rococo gradually became more fashionable amongst the aristocracy.
