Description
Eight closely-matched 18th-century Rococo-inspired floral marquetry chairs in walnut. Circa 1760.
Carved on the knees and with serpentine seat rails, surfaces profusely and beautifully inlaid with flowers and birds.
All of great colour and patina. Covered in calico. Dutch, mid-18th century.
Some historic restoration entirely commensurate with age, in superb condition throughout.
Over the past 66 years we have sold dozens similar to this model, and can confirm these would rank among the best.
Would make chic antique dining chairs.
Unusual to encounter eight which match so well. Pairs are much more commonly found.
These are presented in calico (ready for covering according to the new
owner’s choice).
All are in lovely, largely original condition and of excellent colour, sturdy in the joints and ready to use.
