Description

An early 18th century red walnut dropleaf table of superb colour, on cabriole legs.

Ca 1720.

The elegant cabriole legs terminating in carved ‘pony feet’ are a distinguishing feature. A working drawer in the apron.

Fine colour and old patina, and in excellent condition throughout.

From a private estate.

Where space may be limited these versatile antique tables work well with one leaf folded, eg behind a sofa or against a wall, to be opened fully when required.

Literature:

Ralph Edwards CBE FSA in his Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, Hamlyn (Fourth edition 1972) illustrates a closely related table on p. 537, ill.18, and dated 1720.
