Description
An English mid-18th century mahogany wingback armchair of good rich colour and patination.
George III period, circa 1760.
Upholstered in 18th-century Aubusson tapestry retaining its vibrant colours, and close-nailed.
Of generous proportions, this antique wing chair is raised on moulded legs and brass castors.
Nb. This is so well proportioned – this Georgian wing chair offers comfort, elegance and sophistication to a sitting room or study.
Traditionally the high backs provided added protection from drafts and helped to contain heat from an open fireplace. They were first introduced in England in the 17th century.
