Eighteenth century oil on canvas portrait traditionally attributed to James Wills (active 1740-1777).

A fine period painting of a young lady (as yet to be identified), known as ‘’The Lady with the Blue Ribbon”.

This oil painting is set in its original 18th century carved giltwood frame – a sure sign of high quality and originality.
The canvas with no apparent evidence of restoration.
In a feigned oval very typical of this period, half length, with lace bonnet and elaborately lace trimmed bodice,
wearing large pearl earrings and a choker. A lady of considerable status, wealth and style.
A very similar portrait also attributed to James Wills was sold at Christie’s London in April 2016 @ £24,375.
