Description

The top two door section revealing an arrangement of eleven graduated feather banded drawers.

Below the bold cavetto cornice is a full length bible or map drawer.

The base, contained within a prominent waist moulding, is fitted with two short and two long drawers.

Feather banded throughout and with cross grain walnut  ‘D’ mouldings, raised on later bun feet located into their original recesses. Sides veneered and cross banded in walnut. Fine quality English oak linings and dovetails throughout. Brasses correct for period but some are historical replacements.

In superb condition overall.

This sophisticated antique cabinet is notable for its superbly chosen, well figured and matched burr walnut veneers. Probably from the workshops of one of the major London cabinet makers of the period. It is quite unusual to find interior drawers faced with such superbly matched burr veneers – a confirmation of fine quality.
