Description
A large and impressive solid walnut double gateleg drop-leaf table. Mid-17th century, ca 1650.
L or W: 71’’ flaps up/ extended
D 30’’ flaps down
H 30’’
Nb. It is rare to find large gate-leg tables of this early period in solid walnut. The simple ‘gun barrel’ supports help date this table to the early Commonwealth period (1649-1660).
The double gate-leg construction gives this design great stability. Lovely old characterful condition with historical repairs commensurate with its age. Will accommodate up to ten.
A useful and original working drawer at each end.
